How to Make A Survival Flashlight

Having a flashlight is certainly handy but if you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have one available, what can you do? If you understand what was taught in the video below, you can actually make your own flashlight.

Of course, were not talking about making a flashlight out of a potato or something unusual, were talking about making one without a flashlight but your supplies will include a couple of batteries, a light bulb, and a piece of metal.

The batteries will produce all of the energy that is necessary. The difference is, you won’t have them inside of a flashlight so you must connect them together so that they work in unison.

The easiest way to connect the batteries is to stack them on top of each other and tape them together using electrical tape. Duct tape could also be used. Make sure that you are stacking them so the positive on one end of the battery is touching the negative on the other end. Both of them should be facing the same direction.

Now comes the tricky part. Using a paperclip that is unfolded, you will need to have a long enough piece that you can touch both ends of the batteries and also wrap around the little lightbulb. This can be difficult, but if you use two paper clips, you will have plenty available. Just wrap the paper clips together and connect them with tape.

Take one end of the paperclip and wrap it around the base of the lightbulb. Try to be as neat as possible because it needs to make a good connection in order for the light to light up.

Now you are ready to have some fun. Attach the paperclip to the bottom of the batteries using some tape. You can then wrap it around and touch the base of the lightbulb to the positive end on top of the batteries.

If you did everything right, you will now have some light from that little bulb and the batteries will be powering it all. In fact, if you take the flashlight into another room you will see that it can actually light your way in the dark.

Admittedly, this is not going to be the best scenario but it is one that can work well if you have the right tools available. In fact, it can even be a fun experiment for the children and teach them something about survival at the same time.
